On investigating the plan, author found that the size of the fleet, the capability of fleet and cycle times used during shift production were not practical. So he reevaluated the shift production plan to a realistic value. The shift production plan was mechanized by the dispatch control into Minetsar. Truck operators were kept on track simultaneously. Then he evaluated the new model in CAT minestar software. The plan was detected realistic which outputs the process results such as truck movements whose tonnages was done during the entire period of shift production.

    The fuel consumption of truck was increased during truck activity. He visited the sites to find out the cause of fuel consumption. He found that the trucks waited in line during loading and dumping. The amount of time a truck spent in loading and dumping was more than the assigned time frame. So to overcome this problem, He optimized the truck assignment in real time and minimized the truck queuing at loading and dumping locations.

    When author used the TALPAC for the simulation of the truck, he found that the haulage cost was very high. Then, he consulted with his advisor about the problem, and he told him to check the procedure of analysis. He checked the procedure of the analysis and found that the transportation length from mine to the processing plant was very high. He minimized the transportation length and performed the analysis. This time the cost of the haulage was less, but still the overall cost was very high. Again, he inspected the design procedure of the mining system, and he found that the load of the ore carried by truck was very high.  He corrected the design, and he put the less weight during analysis. Finally, the haulage cost came within the expected value.

    When he calculated the wait time per operating hour and cycle’s time, he found that there was the high chance of the collision between vehicles during the mining process. He consulted with his advisor and made the decision to put the sensor in the vehicle due to which the position of the various vehicles can be seen in the display, and the chance of the collision of the vehicles can be minimized. Further, the daily maintenance program for the vehicle was generated, and finally, the chance of the collision of the vehicle was minimized.

    Demographics: Author have elaborated his engineering skills and activities undertaken for feasibility analysis and design of coal mine as a part of his bachelor’s degree in mining engineering at the “University name” at Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. The title of his project was “Coal Mine Design and Feasibility” which was compulsory for the unit Mine4004 and submitted to the Department of Mining Engineering.

    1. To conduct the feasibility study of location and site selection for the model for which he went to the mining location with his team member who was located in NSW to the west of the Newcastle in coalfields.
    2. To make the preliminary mine design for the analysis using Minex software for accurate design, planning and implement mining strategy for greater efficiency, productivity, and cost control as well as improve profitability.
    3. To make the classification of resources from the distance grid that confirmed a coal reserve that would be suitable for mining.
    4. To determine the efficiency of each method and found that the longwall method was simpler in comparison to the room and pillar.

    6. To design the conveyor system and determined the belt width of 1.31m for the travelling speed of 4.1 m/s to operate the mining continuously.

    8. To incorporate the state and national rules and regulation to meet the health and safety standards in order to minimize the risks and hazards for the ventilation design.

To estimate and designed the ventilation removing the methane below 1 percentage and trip the electrical equipment if it exceeded 1.25 percent which continuously monitored its concentration level and also incorporated an alarm system for the alert warning if methane exceeded the requirement level.
    10. To consider three ventilation system and employed U-system because of the 3m/s velocity required for the design.

    After designing the complete under grounding mining system, author analyzed the whole design of the coal mine system. But he felt that something was missing in the entire design. Later, he investigate the whole design from the very beginning and found that his team had forgotten to incorporate lightning in the design. Hence, he calculated the total lux of tungsten filament lights required to brighten the area up to the standard limit. His design was further shown to electrical engineers for re-evaluating and calculating cable size and breakers for the system.

    In designing of the ventilation system, he specified all the parameters as well as equipment and completed the design. Later when he analyzed the system, he found that the electrical system present in the mining exceeded 1.25 percent of total concentration on cutting machines. As a result, the safety threshold for the ventilation system was violated. So in order to solve this problem, he trip the equipment electrical supply exceeding the verge level which helped in minimizing the risks and hazards that might occur during the project.
