Demographics: In the first Career Episode, the author explains the project he carried out for the fulfillment of the degree of civil engineering. This project was done while he was a designated research assistant for “University name” under the Civil Engineering department. This project was accomplished successfully by the proper support and guidance of “Tutor/professor name “from August 2015 to November 2015, a period of four months in University Lab.
Engineering Activities of Civil Engineers:
- To carry out necessary studies, research and investigations to fix the nature and scope of the project.
- To prepare the list of tasks to be done for completing the project.
- To select and conduct tests of the concrete ingredients.
- To carry out the mix design of the high-performance concrete following all the standards and specifications.
- To conduct the slump test and compression test of cylindrical and cubical specimens prepared from the mix design concrete.

Testing phase of concrete which showed low workability
The author prepared a new mix-plan with a higher water to binder ratio to use. Prepared the next mix by increasing the amount of water. He performed slump test again to analyzed result and finally concluded that the problem had been solved.
2. Problem 2 Career episode 1 and its solution
Premature cracking of the specimen during compression testing phase
He prepared a linear method to translate the alignment from vertical to the horizontal direction. Executed the realignment plan of the cylindrical specimen and then moved towards the successful conduction of the test again.

This project was accomplished successfully by the proper support and guidance of “supervisor name “from March 2018 to April 2018.

- To collect all the relevant information for the demolition of the depot in a safe manner.
- To develop the project methodology and workflow diagram to execute the work in accordance with the time frame.
- To generate the demolition and remediation management plan for a safe working environment and to draw site mapping by using AutoCAD software.

1. Problem 1 Career Episode 2 and its solution
Health Hazard at the site
The author supervised the demolition procedure in such a way that the removal of tanks underground were exhibited as well as transferred/hauled as a “perilous waste”. He discharged it to a known provision of TSD by using the service of a Risky Transporter of Waste who was licensed and subjected to every administration applied by the state government.
2. Problem 2 Career Episode 2 and its solution
Hazard-prone demolition
He utilized another method to minimize hazardous demolition. He supervised the cleaning of the tanks on site, and further employed Marine Chemist to verify the cleaning process as free of vapor, clean and safe/secured for hot work. He further checked the transportation of those cleaned tanks with their subsequent verifications for the process of the materials salvaging or recycling.

Demographics: This project was done while the author was a civil engineering student for “university name” under the Civil Engineering department. This project was accomplished successfully by the proper support and guidance of “Senior/professor “from August 2014 to November 2014.
Engineering Activities of Civil Engineers:
- To perform a site survey of the area for understanding its complex aspects.
- To lineate the task flow of the project through the development of methodology.
- To carry out the orientation of street which was based on loosely defined north-south grid across the subject land and designed subdivisions for Wall construction.
- To prepare the design of the landscape.
- To designing the walking and cycling networks.
- Furthermore, to undertakek the design of public transport.
- To design the connector streets for the neighborhood.

Problems & Solutions
1. Problem 1 Career episode 3 and its solution
The author analyze the design and found that during heavy rainfall, there was a high chance of water collection in the land. It could result in blockage of pathways for transportation as well as pedestrians. He discussed the issue with the project supervisor. According to his suggestions, he increased the longitudinal slope of the drainage system at the corner of the footpath by increasing its inclination. The test check revealed that the flow of the water was more immediate thereby eliminating the problem of water collection.
2. Problem 2 Career episode 3 and its solution
Another problem he faced was regarding the waste produced. Due to the heavy work at construction sites, there was a generation of many wastes in various parts of the site. So, to overcome the situation, he initialized a strategy namely Reduce-Reuse-Recycle. He devised a protocol with the provision of waste collection, distribution according to their nature and finally the recycling process for them. This protocol helped in maintaining all the wastes in addition to reusing the waste in the project for usage again. Hence, the problem was solved eventually.
